How it Began.
Growing up in Ohio; which coins itself as “the birthplace of aviation”, we found our mutual love of aircraft. As children, we learned some of aviation’s history and frequently visited the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. In high school, Don attended a local vocational school where he studied aircraft maintenance. This is where we met, although at the time I was studying computer hardware. After high school, Don continued his maintenance studies and this inspired me to attend A&P school after I completed my senior year of high school.
Don joined the Air Force in 2006, which meant that I was not able to complete A&P school at that time. Our first duty station was Dover AFB, DE. Don worked on heavy aircraft as a C-5 crew chief. He even spent a couple years there as a maintenance qualification instructor for new airmen learning their role as crew chiefs and proper maintenance practices. During this time, I obtained my bachelor’s in psychology and continued on to my master’s in film production. In Delaware, there wasn’t an A&P school close enough for me to attend, so I pursued alternative studies. We had the honor of creating some photos for the Dover Air Force Museum that assisted with attracting visitors to check out their new C-5 display as well as other aircraft housed at the museum.
After spending over 8 years in Delaware, the Air Force sent us to Hawaii. Don continued his work as a crew chief on en-route aircraft. This required him to learn another three airframes. I had the privilege and honor to collaborate with Don’s command to create a mission video that highlights each department of the squadron to present to incoming airmen and distinguished visitors. This was a tool to familiarize them with the mission of the en-route squadron. It was through this video and other educational videos Don had created as an instructor that helped inspire a new style of training videos for the Air Force. I had obtained a position with a corporate events company where I quickly worked my way up to management.
In 2018, Don separated from Active Duty and transitioned to the Air National Guard. He began working in general aviation at a local flight school. During 2020, Covid-19 hit and the pandemic created a lot of uncertainty for people, including us. In 2021, I joined him under an apprenticeship to work towards my A&P. For me, it felt like things were finally coming full circle.
Don and I have always worked well together and this dream of owning an aviation business is one that has finally come to fruition. It has been a long road getting to this spot in our lives, but we have learned so much along the way. Offering our clients this expertise, efficiency, reliability, and providing education is something we are truly excited to hit our boots running with.
